Each year the Cal Poly Student Chapter of the Structural Engineers Association of California (SEAOC) puts on the Structural Forum as a way to bring the professional world of structural engineering to the students. The Forum consists of two parts: a series of lectures in the morning and a career symposium in the evening. The morning presentations are designed to give students exposure to topics of structural engineering that are not necessarily covered in the architectural engineering department. In the past these presentations have covered topics like base isolation, tensile structures and blast design. The career symposium in the evening gives students, faculty and professionals the opportunity to interact in a relaxed atmosphere.
